Apollo Tires Ltd. was created on 28 September 1972 as a Public Limited Company and started Commencement of Business on 24 October, 1972. The Company was advanced by Bharat Steel Tubes, Ltd. Raunaq International Pvt. Ltd., Raunaq and Co. Pvt. Ltd., Raunaq Singh, Mathew T. Marattukalam and Jacob Thomas In 1975, the organization made its Initial offer and its first assembling office was authorized in Perambra Plant, Thissur, Kerala, India in 1977, pursued by its second plant at Limda, Gujarat, India[1] in 1991. The organization obtained Premier Tires Limited-PTL in 1995, which turned into its third plant at Kalamassery, Kerala, India. In 2008, it began another plant at Chennai Tamil Nadu, India.


The organization concentrated on the truck tires in India and presented its first truck tire, Rajdhani in India. The organization extended its task across India and, in 1996, it extended activities outside India by securing Dunlop's Africa operations. In 2013, it arranged off the Dunlop mark in Africa alongside the greater part of the South African activity in a deal to Sumitomo Rubber Industries of Japan. The specific same year, it began its Global R&D Center, Europe in Enschede, the Netharlands.

In 2015, Apollo Tires purchased Germany's Reifencom for €45.6 million. It moved its corporate office for Europe district to Amsterdam from Enschede, the Netherlands] and opened a Global R&D Center, Asia in Chennai, India a couple of months later.

In 2016, the organization marked a MoU with the legislature of Andhra Pradesh to set up another plant in the state In 2017, it introduced its plant in Hungary. On 9 January 2018, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N Chandrababu Naidu established the framework stone for Apollo Tires' ₹1,800-crore tire industrial facility in Andhra Pradesh. The plant will come up over a 200-section of land site in Chinnapanduru town close Sri City in Chittoor area and create traveler vehicle outspread (PCR) tires with an underlying limit of 5.5 million tires for every year and will serve both local and fare markets.
